Haley, Homers Lead PawSox to 4-1 Win

Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
(Louisville, KY) - Justin Haley hurled eight dominant innings in his Triple-A debut and was backed by a pair of home runs as the Pawtucket Red Sox rolled a 4-1 victory over the Louisville Bats on Saturday night at Slugger Field.
The righthander allowed only one run on three hits and fanned seven, and retired the last ten hitters he faced. Late-inning homers by Chris Marrero and Ali Solis sealed a second consecutive win for Pawtucket in the Bluegrass State.
With the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Marrero launched his 12th home run of the season - and second in as many nights - to deep left field to give Pawtucket (35-33) a 2-1 advantage.
In the seventh, Ali Solis went deep for the first time with the PawSox; that two-run blast gave Haley a 4-1 lead. The righthander sent Louisville (35-33) down in order in both the seventh and eighth innings, and did so emphatically: Haley struck out four of the last six Bats hitters he faced.
Haley was in the strike zone all night long; of the 97 pitches he threw, 69 of them were strikes.
Each team used a leadoff walk in the second inning to score a first run. For Pawtucket, Chris Dominguez drew a base on balls, moved to third on a Henry Ramos double and scored when Rainel Rosario - who was also making his Pawtucket debut - grounded out to second.
Louisville designated hitter Jermaine Curtis walked to begin the bottom of the second, advanced to second on a Donald Lutz single and was sacrificed to third by Brandon Allen. Jordan Pacheco brought Curtis home and tied the game with a groundout to shortstop.
From there, Haley (1-0) dominated. He only allowed two baserunners the rest of the way: Raffy Lopez rapped an infield single in the third and lined a single to left in the fifth. In that third inning, Rosario kept the game tied with a spectacular leaping grab before he crashed into the outfield wall in right-centerfield.
Noe Ramirez pitched a perfect ninth to earn his third save.
The Sox wrap up the series and the roadtrip on Sunday night at 6:06 p.m. in Louisville. Righthander William Cuevas (4-3, 3.29) takes the mound and will be opposed by Louisville righty Stephen Johnson (0-3, 4.98).
The PawSox will be back at McCoy Monday night at 7:05 for the first of an eight-game homestand. Good tickets are available for all five remaining games; visit www.pawsox.com or call 401-724-7300 to get them now.
