CHARLOTTE - Newcomer Austin Meadows tripled and notched three hits in his Triple-A debut as the Indians knocked off the Charlotte Knights, 5-4, on Saturday at BB&T Ballpark.

Pittsburgh's No. 2 prospect Austin Meadows joined the Indians prior to today's game after being promoted from Double-A Altoona. He finished 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 25 games.

Indianapolis (37-31)was first to get on the board, courtesy of Josh Bell's 10th home run to start the second inning. The moonshot added to his team-leading total and is possibly still bounding down the streets of Uptown Charlotte after clearing the entire right field section of the stadium.

The Tribe plated another run in the third thanks to some heads-up baserunning by Gift Ngoepe. He came aboard on a one-out single and later scored when he never stopped running from second on an infield hit by Meadows.

Charlotte (35-35) cut into the 2-0 deficit on an RBI knock by Jason Bourgeois in the home half of the inning.

Both squads scored two runs in the fourth to complete the frame with a 4-3 score. The Indians' scoring chance was opened by a double from Cole Figueroa and helped by an error in right field from the Knights' Jerry Sands. A bounding ball rolled under his glove, allowing Max Moroff to reach third and later score on a sac fly.

Indians starter Trevor Williams (1-3) earned his first win after allowing one earned run in five innings. Scott Carroll (1-4) received the loss for Charlotte.

Indianapolis tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI triple from Meadows. Charlotte made things interesting with a run in the ninth but Dovydas Neverauskas struck out the last batter of the game to earn his first save.

The series finale will take place back at BB&T Ballpark on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
