CHARLOTTE - In the midst of a record 24-game hitting streak with Double-A Altoona, Austin Meadows has been promoted to join the Indianapolis Indians. The move was made official on Saturday by Pirates officials.

Meadows is the No. 2 prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and No. 22 overall in baseball, according to Baseball America. The Tribe now has the Pirates' top three prospects currently on its roster in Tyler Glasnow (1), Meadows, and Josh Bell (3). Jameson Taillon was ranked No. 4 entering this season, but was promoted to the Major Leagues earlier this month.

After hitting .192 through his first 21 games this season, the Atlanta, Ga., native raked .404 over his 24-game streak that was the longest in Altoona Curve history. He was second in the Eastern League with a .311 average, and led the league in slugging (.611) and triples (8) at the time of his promotion.

The Indians are on the road to face Charlotte in game two of a three game series tonight at 6:05 p.m. The team returns to Victory Field on Friday, June 24, to host Buffalo at 7:15 p.m.
