Grizzlies Win Special Teams Fest With Ontario

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (5-2) defeated the Ontario Reign 3-2 Wednesday night at the E-Center to win their third-straight game. All five goals in the game were scored in special teams situations. Utah is now 4-1 in one-goal games this year.

Utah took a 1-0 lead in the first period on the power-play with Tom May scoring 4:22 into the contest to extend his scoring streak to three games. Vladimir Nikiforov and Mike Walsh added assists on the play. Ontario tied the game late in the first period on a power-play goal of their own.

In the second, the Grizzlies went up 2-1 on a shorthanded goal by Ryan Kinasewich as Dennis Packard fed the Utah captain on a breakaway for his third goal of the season.

Each team traded power-play goals in the third with Ontario tying the game at two 3:53 into the third. James Sixsmith (3) got the Grizzlies game-winning goal on the power-play with 4:47 left in the game. James Sanford and Kinasewich picked up assists. The game was Kinasewich's fourth out of seven this year in which he has recorded multiple-points.

Mike Mole stopped 27 of 29 in the game to improve to 3-2 on the season.

The Grizzlies return to the E-Center Friday and Saturday hosting Ontario again. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. Friday is "Pink in the Rink" for breast cancer awareness and Saturday is Veteran's Appreciation Night. Visit www.utahgrizzlies.com for more information.
