
Wheeling Rookie Goebel Named PaySourceUSA ECHL Plus Performer Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Wheeling Nailers rookie right wing Tommy
Goebel is the PaySourceUSA ECHL Plus Performer
of the Month for October after leading the league with a plus-minus rating
of +10.
The 23 year old, who is under contract to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the
American Hockey League, tied for the league lead in October with seven
goals and 15 points in six games to help Wheeling get off to its best start
in 17 years.
The Parma, Ohio native had career highs with a plus-minus rating of +3,
three goals and four points in a 5-3 win against Trenton on Oct. 26. He was
+2 against Cincinnati on Oct. 17 and against Dayton on Oct. 31 and finished
+1 in the other three games. Goebel had a point in all six games during the
month and had an assist in each of his first five games.
He was named the ECHL
Player of the Week for Oct. 20-26 after scoring nine points (4g-5a) and
having a plus-minus rating of +5 in three games.
Goebel signed with Rochester in the American Hockey League in 2007-08
after completing his career at Ohio State University and had five points
(2g-3a) in five games for the Americans.
He played two seasons at OSU and had 62 points (33g-29a) and 69
penalty minutes in 71 games after playing two years at Michigan State
University where he had 53 points (21g-32a) and 54 penalty minutes in 76
games from 2003-05.
