Chiefs Announce AmeriServ Sellout Challenge Nights
November 5, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs today announced three AmeriServ Sellout Challenge Nights during the 2008-09 season. The AmeriServ Sellout Challenges will take place on Friday, November 14 vs. Trenton, Saturday, January 17 vs. Dayton, and Sunday, March 8 vs. Dayton. The games against Trenton and Dayton each begin at 7:05 PM, and the Sunday game against the Bombers starts at 2:35 PM.
"Everyone with the Chiefs is excited to extend this challenge to the community. The support we've had over the years has been great, but for these three challenge nights we want our fans to show us how crazy they can get and really pack the arena," said Chiefs Director of Business Eric Wolfgang.
This is how the Sellout Challenge works: If the attendance at any of the three games is equal to, or above, 3,880 people, every person in attendance takes home a free ticket to a future game. As usual, the gates open one hour prior to face off, and leading up to the start of play the Chiefs staff will provide seating updates until a sellout is reached. That is when the fans will need to get involved.
As the number gets closer to 3,880, those already at the arena will need to get a hold of their family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, and any one else that they know to reach the magic number. If a sellout is reached, everyone will be handed their free ticket as they leave the arena. Also, once a sellout is reached on any of the three challenge nights the promotion will end. For example, if 4,000 fans attend the first sellout challenge, the other two scheduled nights won't be in effect.
"AmeriServ supports Chiefs Hockey and we're thrilled to be a part of this exciting major event for the Chiefs and our community," said Jeff Powers, AmeriServ vice president of Marketing.
"A few years back we started the $10,000 Goal promotion and it's quickly become one of the most crowd-pleasing promotions of the Chiefs' game experience. Now with the Sellout Challenge everyone gets a chance to win free tickets. It's one more reason to love Chiefs Hockey," said Powers.
