Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Bakersfield, CA - A morning special was on the menu for the Salmon Kings and the Condors today at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield. The a.m. affair was apart of a field trip promotion for local school children. The Kings would start goaltender Jonathan Boutin and the Condors would counter with Dave McKee.

The first period saw multiple chances at both ends, but both goaltenders stood tall making several key stops to keep it a scoreless game through the first period. Victoria out shot Bakersfield 17-10.

The Salmon Kings continued to buzz around in the second period and were rewarded for the efforts at the 11:30 mark. During a power play Olivier Labelle continued his torrid streak scoring his 8th goal of the season. He beat McKee with a shot from the goal line that squeaked past his blocker shoulder. The Salmon Kings would lead 1-0 after 40 minutes.

The Salmon Kings stretched their lead to 2-0 on a 2-on-1 when Shaun Landolt found Sean O'Connor who rifled a shot past McKee. Boutin preserved his shutout bid with a great save on Mark Derlago in the late going of the third period. O'Connor would add an empty net goal for his second of the game. Salmon Kings 3 Condors 0.

Victoria went 1/6=16.7% on the power play and Bakersfield ended 0/4=0%. The Salmon Kings out shot the Condors 48-28.
