Boise, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (3-3-2) dropped the first game of a three game set against the Alaska Aces (6-2) at home by a 3-1 score in front of 3,173 fans at Qwest Arena.

Marty Flichel scored the first goal of the hockey game for the Steelheads, his fourth of the season, at 12:01. The assists went to Matt Stephenson and Travis Wight, who picked up his first point of the season with the helper. Flichel's goal began as an intended pass to the front of the net, but it took a series of Steelheads bounces and beat Alaska goalie Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux.

Alaska countered almost immediately: 31 seconds later, Josh Soares tied the game for Alaska with his 10th of the season. The assists went to T.J. Fast and Cam Keith on the goal. Perhaps the biggest Alaska goal, though, was the one that came in the final minute of the second frame. Jordan Foreman, at 19:11, broke the 1-1 tie, with the assist going to Matt Shasby.

The third period saw one goal, and it was of the Alaska Aces variety. Tomas Kana scored at 3:17, and that's how the game would end. Brett Hemingway picked up the lone assist.

Lamoureux stopped 24 of 25 Idaho shots in the win, and improved to 6-2. Rejean Beauchemin stopped 20 of 23 Alaska shots, and fell to 1-2-2 with the loss.
