Grizzlies Stay Hot; Beat Bakersfield 9-3

Bakersfield, California - Scott Burt (three goals, one assist) became the second Utah player to record a hat trick in three games and the Utah Grizzlies (26-20-0-4) defeated the Bakersfield Condors 9-3 Saturday night at the Rabobank Arena. The Grizzlies finished their four-game in five-night road trip to California 4-0-0-0 and are now unbeaten in eight of their last nine games.

The Grizzlies scored three goals in the first 9:59 of the first with Scott Burt getting the first two and Olivier Labelle adding the third 22 seconds after Burt's second to make it 3-0.

Utah made it 7-1 after two periods with four second period goals as Burt finished off the hat trick (19,20, 21) on Utah's fifth goal at 12:24. Justin Bourne made it 4-0 just 26 seconds into the second period. Keith Johnson (21) and Justin Johnson also added goals in the frame for Utah.

Travis Rycroft took a feed from Kazuma Takahashi 2:13 into the third and it was 8-1. Labelle added his second of the game to make it 9-2 at 13:39.

Nathan Lawson tied a season-high stopping 39 of 42 Bakersfield shots.

12 Utah skaters scored in the game.

Utah was outshot 42-33, going 3-6 on the power-play.

With Burt's hat trick, Utah has now had nine players this year record hat tricks with Tyler Haskins being the only player to do it twice.

Utah returns home Thursday, February 14 opening a three-game-in-three-night home stand with Bakersfield.
