WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - The Utah Grizzlies National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Dallas Stars, announced today that they have re-assigned defenseman John Erskine to the Grizzlies.

Erskine, 23, has played in 32 games with Dallas this season registering an assist and ranking third on the team with 84 penalty minutes. In two games with Utah earlier this year, Erskine racked up four penalty minutes.

The former second round draft selection of the Dallas Stars in 1998 has played 81 career NHL games posting two goals and two assists with 175 penalty minutes.

The Grizzlies also were loaned defenseman Timo Helbling today from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Helbling, 22, joins Gerard DiCaire as Lightning players currently on loan to Utah. Earlier today, Helbling was traded from the Nashville Predators to the Lightning for an eighth round draft selection. In 37 games with the Predator's AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, the Basel, Switzerland native recorded two assists and 46 penalty minutes.

Utah re-assigned defenseman David Cornacchia to the Idaho Steelheads to make room for Helbling.

The Grizzlies will begin an eight-game road trip tonight in Chicago. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM (mst).
