LOOKING AHEAD:

Portland carries a 13-game points streak (6-0-4-3) into the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday (7:05 ET) to face off with Manchester, which is 5-1-2-0 in its last eight and two points ahead of the third-place Pirates in the Atlantic Division. Portland has also earned a point in six straight road contests (2-0-2-2), but has been outscored 14-2 in three games at the VWA this season. Noah Clarke, the reigning Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week, has nine points (6g, 3a) in seven games since returning from the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic on Feb. 8-9.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton faces an important test when Binghamton hosts the Penguins on Wednesday (7:05 ET). The Senators enter the game four points up on the Pens for the fifth and final playoff spot in the East Division, but Wilkes-Barre is surging, unbeaten in four and still with three games in hand on the Sens. Sebastien Caron is 2-0-2 in four AHL starts this season for the Penguins, who are 4-1-1-1 in their last seven road games. Denis Hamel has scored 16 of his 21 goals this season at the Broome County Arena.

On its biggest roll of the season, Toronto heads to Syracuse on Wednesday (7:00 ET) and hosts Hamilton on Thursday (7:00 ET) with sights set on moving up the North Division ladder. The Roadrunners have won seven of nine to hit the .500 mark for the first time at 24-24-8-2, and now find themselves just six points out of second place with 14 of their final 21 games (beginning Thursday) at Ricoh Coliseum. Toronto is 2-0-1-1 against the Crunch and an impressive 6-1-1-1 against the first-place Bulldogs this season. The Roadrunners' J.J. Hunter has 15 points in his last 14 games after recording four in his first 20.
