Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Stan Neckar (NEHTS-kahsh) from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. In addition, the Predators have also traded defenseman Timo Helbling to the Tampa Bay Lightning for an eighth-round draft pick in 2004 NHL Entry Draft

Helbling, 22, registered two assists in 37 games this season with the Admirals. He was originally Nashville's 11th selection, 162nd overall (sixth round), in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. In parts of three seasons in Milwaukee, the Basel, Switz. native accumulated 11 points (2g-9a) and 142 penalty minutes in 127 regular season contests. Neckar, 28 (12/22/75), appeared in three games with Milwaukee during his recent conditioning assignment, posting three assists and a +2 rating. He has scored 52 points (12g-40a) and 316 penalty minutes in 509 career NHL games over the past nine seasons with Ottawa, the New York Rangers, Phoenix and Tampa Bay. The 6-1, 214-pound Ceske Budejovice, Czech Rep. native averaged 18:42 of ice time and notched five points (1g-4a) in 70 games with the Lightning last season. He has played 66-or-more games in each of his last four seasons.

The Admirals look to continue their recent hot play when they begin a stretch of three games in four nights at the Bradley Center tonight at 7 pm versus the San Antonio Rampage. The Ads will play host to the Houston Aeros tomorrow before entertaining the Philadelphia Phantoms on Saturday night. Both games are slated to start at 7 pm.
