Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 2-1 Wednesday night at Maverik Center to go unbeaten in a team record 11-straight games at home at 8-0-0-3.

Utah improves to a league best 11-2-2-2 since Christmas.

"Obviously we came out a little slow for over half of the game," said Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "Then we played our game and we started taking it to them a little bit. We learned another lesson tonight that we can win and not play our best. It's one of those things where if you work hard like we do, we can come out with a win."

The Grizzlies 11-game unbeaten streak smashes the previous record set by the 1994-95 Denver Grizzlies.

Utah fell behind 1-0 5:58 into the first period as Las Vegas scored on a power-play goal.

The Wranglers led for 33:10 before Jamie MacQueen tipped in a shot for his 13th goal of the year with under a minute to go in the second period as Kris Hogg sent in a shot with four seconds left on the Utah power-play.

Utah took their first lead of the night 8:03 into the third period when West Valley City native D.J. Jelitto tapped in his seventh goal in January with Michael Pelech and Mathieu Aubin drawing assists. Jelitto picked up the puck in his own end and went coast-to-coast to tip in the score on a Michael Pelech chance.

Ducks prospect Igor Bobkov stopped 27 of 28 Las Vegas shots as ECHL Goaltender of the Week Aaron Dell was given the night off.

Utah returns to action Friday and Saturday in Bakersfield for 8:00 p.m. face-offs.

The Grizzlies return home Monday, February 17 for a Maverik Monday at 1:35p.m. for President's Day. Fans can get six tickets for $30 with a receipt from Maverik.
