Wranglers Trade for Rempel
January 30, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers have acquired defenseman Brendan Rempel in exchange for considerations from the South Carolina Stingrays.
Rempel, 22, spent four years manning the Harvard University blue-line from 2009-2013, posting one goal and 10 assists in 81 career games for the Crimson. Prior to his days at Harvard, Rempel played 79 games with the USNTDP U-18 and US National U-18 teams, scoring 15 points (5G, 10A) and totaling 99 penalty minutes.
Following his final season with the Crimson, Rempel began his professional career with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL late in the 2012-13 season, chalking up two assists in five games to go along with eight penalty minutes. The Willington, CT native then started off his 2013-14 campaign with the ECHL's Evansville Icemen, but after just one game was release and made his way to South Carolina. In 14 games with the Stingrays, he posted four penalty minutes to go along with a +/- rating of six.
The Wranglers face off against the Ontario Reign on Friday night where Rempel is expected to make his Las Vegas debut wearing number "15."
In an unrelated move, the Wranglers have also sent forward Brian Nugent to the Cincinnati Cyclones for considerations.
