After winning two straight games on home ice against Gwinnett and Florida last week, the Solar Bears hit the ice tonight for the first of three games in three nights. In their last outing at home on Sunday against Florida, the Solar Bears surrendered the first goal of the game early in the second period, but quickly tied the contest on a goal from D Bryce Aneloski at 9:59 of the middle frame. Florida restored their one goal advantage on a shot from F Phillip-Michael Devos at 17:34, but with less than a minute remaining in the period, F Scott Tanski bounced a shot off the shin guard of an Everblades defender and into the net to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the third. Just over nine minutes into the final stanza, Tanski rang a shot off the post and into the net to lift the Solar Bears to the 3-2 win. For Gwinnett, their last action came last Thursday in Orlando, where the Solar Bears defeated the Gladiators 4-3. F Taylor Matson and F Mike Duco each scored in the first period to help Orlando take a 2-0 lead into the second period. Gwinnett got on the board to cut the lead in half with 1:18 left on the clock in the second, but F Jacob Cepis answered back 25 seconds later as the Solar Bears led 3-1 heading to the third. A shade over three minutes into the third, the Gladiators climbed back within one goal before Matson knocked home his second of the game at 9:33 to push the score to 4-2. A late slap shot goal from F Josh Currie gave Gwinnett a chance at the end, but Orlando held on for the 4-3 win. The Solar Bears are 5-0-0-2 against Gwinnett this season.
