Utah Grizzlies News Release

Ontario, California -The Utah Grizzlies (22-10-3-1) defeated the Ontario Reign 5-1 Saturday night in California to win their third-straight game and finish their road trip 3-1. Simon Ferguson picked up a hat trick for Utah in the contest. Utah has now tied the Greenville Road Warriors for the most standings points in the league as they hit the halfway point of the season.

"The guys are competing at a real high level right now," said Head Coach Kevin Colley. "They are doing whatever it takes and competing hard for each other."

Ferguson, who finished with a game-high nine shots as well, got the Utah scoring started on a delayed penalty just 1:50 into the game. Tim Crowder and Hugo Carpentier picked up assists as they fed Ferguson in front. After Ontario added a power-play goal at 9:38 of the first, Simon Ferguson knocked in a rebound for his second of the game at 15:40 of the first period. The goal was setup as Marcus Carroll won a face-off to Nick Tuzzolino who fired it in as Utah started a stretch of four-straight goals to finish the game.

Giffen Nyren added a power-play goal on a circle-to-circle pass from Matt Sorteberg and Utah scored the only goal in the second period to make it 3-1 at 17:17. Utah added power-play goals from Carroll and Ferguson in the third to make it 5-1.

Andrew Engelage (12-3-2-1) stopped 28 of 29 shots to win his seventh-straight start and run his unbeaten streak to ten-straight starts.

The Grizzlies return home for four-straight games starting Wednesday when they welcome in Idaho for a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Utah hosts Stockton Friday, Saturday and Monday at 7:05 p.m.
