Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals (16-11-5-0) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Kalamazoo Wings (14-15-1-2) on Saturday night at First Arena. The Jackals host the Reading Royals on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.

R.J. Anderson flipped a puck over Ryan Nie's glove from just outside the crease at 5:17 of the first period for his second goal of the season to put Elmira up 1-0.

Dustin Cameron, playing in his first game since being activated from the 21-day IR, pushed in a puck on the doorstep to extend the Jackals' lead to 2-0 at 14:56 of the opening frame.

Five-straight goals for the K-Wings, however, doomed the Jackals. At 19:48 of the first period, Justin Taylor slid a puck past Elmira netminder Marco Cousineau to make it 2-1.

In the second period, Kalamazoo jumped in front for good. Bryan Jurynec fired in a shot from the slot to tie the game at 2:12, Kory Karlander wristed home a puck at 13:36 of the second to put Kalamazoo up 3-2, and Trent Daavettila tipped a puck into the net at 19:32 from the top of the crease to make it 4-2 after two.

Ryan McGinnis rifled in a shot from the left point at 6:07 of the third period to close the scoring, 5-2.

Cousineau made 40 saves on 45 shots, falling to 9-6-4-0 on the season. Nie turned aside 31 of 33 shots to improve to 10-9-1-2.

The Jackals host the Reading Royals at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday. For tickets, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
