Grizzlies Pick up Comeback Win and Sweep Greys; Win Streak at Seven

SAUGET, IL - The Gateway Grizzlies picked up a come-from-behind 14-10 victory against the Frontier Greys Thursday night at GCS Ballpark to collect their second straight series sweep.

The win was the Grizzlies seventh in a row, which is the longest streak in the league this season.

Gateway (16-7), currently in first place in the West Division, had to come back from a 9-3 deficit.

The Greys took a six-run lead into the bottom of the fifth inning before Gateway started to chip away.

Chris McClendon drove in a run on a double to bring the Grizzlies within five runs in the fifth.

Gateway then scored six runs on four hits and four walks in the sixth to take a 10-9 lead. Jon Myers smacked his second home run of the game and his league-leading seventh of the season. Jonathan Johnson picked up an RBI walk, Jose Flores brought in two runs on a double and Landon Hernandez knocked in a run on a single.

After the Greys tied the game with a run in the top of the eighth, Gateway responded with four runs on two hits and two errors in the bottom half. The only RBI in the inning was on a Jet Butler single.

Jason Sullivan picked up the win for the Grizzlies in relief.

The Grizzlies continue their homestand on Saturday night at GCS Ballpark with game one in a weekend series against the Normal CornBelters. It's GCS Credit Union Jersey off the back Night. Tucker Jensen (2-0) gets the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:05.
