CRESTWOOD, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers received a pair of strong pitching performances but had to settle for a doubleheader split with the Windy City ThunderBolts on Thursday night, dropping the opener 2-1 before taking the nightcap 2-0.

Danny Jimenez threw a complete game in the opener, the first of the season for a Schaumburg starter. Jimenez was the hard luck loser after allowing two unearned runs in six innings. Windy City put two runs on the board in the third on a two-run double from Chad Cregar. Steve McQuail accounted for the only offense with a fourth inning solo homer.

Game two saw the Boomers build a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in second. Alexi Colon smacked his second homer of the year and with two outs Craig Hertler deposited an RBI single into left. Matt Kuna tossed 4.2 shutout innings but Sean Mahley earned his first professional win. Dexter Price saved the game, his second of the year. McQuail posted two hits in each game while Colon finished 2-for-3 in the second contest.

Schaumburg (14-11) is 3-3 this season in doubleheaders and continues the roadtrip on Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. game at River City. RHP Cody Griebling (2-2, 7.86) starts against RHP Craig Goodman (0-1, 5.11).
