Grizzlies Look to Shatter 19-Year-Old Home Record Wednesday
January 28, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies, the best team in the ECHL since Christmas, will look to shatter a 19-year-old team record Wednesday when they host the Las Vegas Wranglers at Maverik Center at 7 p.m.
Wednesday is also a Wild $2 Wednesday with $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks, $2 Draft Beers and $5 Student Tickets with ID.
At 7-0-1-2 in their last ten home games, the Grizzlies now own the longest unbeaten streak since the club moved to Utah at the start of the 1995-96 season.
The 1994-95 Denver Grizzlies went unbeaten in 10-straight games from December 26, 1994 to February 8, 1995 when the team played in the IHL.
This year's team started their unbeaten streak at home with a 5-3 win over Colorado on December 28. Utah has not lost in regulation at Maverik Center since December 7.
Utah currently is 13-4-2-4 at Maverik Center with standings points in 19 of 23 home games. They own the third best home winning percentage in the ECHL behind Evansville and Alaska. The Grizzlies lead the ECHL with a 10-2-2-2 record. Aaron Dell was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Week this past week after being named runner-up the week before.
This is also the last week of our food drive as the Grizzlies team with Granger Food Pantry. Grizzlies fans have been very generous with their donations so far and we look for a strong finish of canned food donations at Wednesday's game. Any fans, not able to attend Wednesday, can bring their canned food to the Grizzlies corporate offices Thursday or Friday.
Tip-A-Grizz is Monday, February 3 at 6:30 at Maverik Center. RSVP to Val at (801) 988-8800 as the Grizzlies players will be serving as celebrity waiters and serving you dinner for tips. It is $20 for season ticket holders, $25 for general public as we raise money for Utah Grizzlies Children's Charities for a great evening of fun and entertainment with this year's Grizzlies.
