
Nailers Add D'Agostino, Ruopp; Loan Goers to AHL

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced four transactions, with all four taking effect immediately. Pittsburgh has reassigned defensemen Nick D'Agostino and Harrison Ruopp to the Nailers, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Barry Goers to a 25-game professional tryout, and forward Jacob Lagace has been suspended by Wheeling.
D'Agostino, 23, returns for his second stint with the Nailers, after appearing in four games from January 8th-12th. During that stretch, Nick picked up one assist, as he set up Jack MacLellan's shorthanded goal against Toledo on the 11th. The Bolton, ON native has spent the majority of the 2013-14 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he has appeared in 25 games, accumulating one goal, six assists, seven points, and 11 penalty minutes. His lone goal came in a 1-0 win for the Penguins against the Utica Comets on December 14th.
Ruopp, 20, also returns for his second stint with the Nailers, after appearing in nine games from November 14th-December 1st. Harrison made his professional debut during that time, while registering his first pro point in his second game - a 5-4 victory over Elmira on November 16th. He also added an assist on November 30th against Toledo, as Wheeling posted a 7-0-2 record with him in the lineup. The Zehner, SK native has also appeared in 11 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, totaling 18 penalty minutes.
Goers, 27, joins the Penguins for the second time this season, having posted strong numbers at both the AHL and ECHL levels this season. During his most recent stretch with the Nailers, Barry appeared in six games, recording one goal, one assist, and a +4 rating. Overall, the Ivyland, PA native has appeared in 16 games with Wheeling, posting two goals, five assists, and seven points. He has also suited up in seven games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, tacking one goal, four assists, and five points onto his season totals.
Lagace, 24, has opted to join the Tonsberg Vikings in Norway, and has therefore been suspended by the Nailers, so that they maintain his ECHL rights. Jacob appeared in 15 games with Wheeling this season, registering four goals, four assists, and eight points, following six points in 26 games with the Orlando Solar Bears. The St-Hyacinthe, QC native had two multiple point games during his time with the Nailers, including his final game on January 26th. This will be Lagace's first experience playing in Europe, following three and a half seasons in the AHL and ECHL.
Nick D'Agostino (#27) and Harrison Ruopp (#32) will join the Nailers this week, as they will play three games at WesBanco Arena. The first contest takes place on Wednesday night at 7:00 against the Fort Wayne Komets.
