Grizzlies Look For Two In A Row Versus Moose

January 29, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Grizzlies (11-29-0-2) look to build some momentum tonight versus Manitoba (29-11-1-4) after last night's shootout victory over the Moose. Aaron Gavey scored the game deciding goal in the shootout and Jean-Marc Pelletier turned away 30 shots and six of seven shooters in the extra session. Erik Westrum, Randall Gelech and Peter White scored for Utah in regulation.

The Moose led the game 1-0 and 2-1 (after two periods) but failed to maintain the advantage as Utah scored twice in the third period to capture a 3-2 lead. Manitoba tied the game sending it to overtime when Jeff Heerema scored his second goal of the night with just 41 seconds remaining in regulation.

Manitoba's 17 wins on the road are the most in the AHL and the Moose are just four points behind Rochester for the top spot in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies have won the last two games versus Manitoba this season both victories coming in a shootout. All three games in the series have been decided by one goal.

Next Game: The Grizzlies will conclude their six-game home stand on Tuesday night with a showdown against the Edmonton Road Runners. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 PM.

***All Grizzlies game can be heard on ESPN Radio AM 1230***
