Boyes keys Bruins' win

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins and Portland Pirates played the fifth game of their 10-game season series on Saturday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center, with the Bruins scoring three power play goals en route to a 5-3 win. The win was the second in as many nights for the Black and Gold, who are 3-2-0-0 against the Pirates this season. The Bruins are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 22-17-2-6 record.

Bruin left wing Andy Hilbert registered a three-point night (1-2-3), moving him to within two points of tying the late Sergei Zholtok for the franchise career scoring mark. Hilbert ranks second in overall franchise career scoring, with 90-94-184 totals in 202 games. Hilbert has a team season-high five-game goal streak, firing home seven goals over that span. He also has points (7-2-10) in six straight games. Hilbert leads the team in scoring with 26-27-53 totals in 47 games.

Bruin center Brad Boyes scored two power play goals, his 17th and 18th of the season. His second goal, scored in the third period, proved to be the eventual game-winner. Center Keith Aucoin tallied his 11th goal of the season on a second period power play. Defenseman Jay Leach rounded out the scoring on a third period goal, his 3rd of the year.

Boyes had two goals and an assist, while Aucoin had a goal and an assist. Center Patrice Bergeron had three assists on the night.

Providence goaltender Cody Rudkowsky stopped 30 shots for the win, improving his record to 4-4-2 on the season.

The Bruins return home to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.

Following Sunday's game, Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen and defenseman Milan Jurcina will sign autographs free of charge on the Dunkin' Donuts Center concourse behind Section 110.
