Phantoms lose 2-1 in Bridgeport

(BRIDGEPORT, Conn) - Chris Campoli's goal 3:33 into the third period was the difference tonight at the Arena at Harbor Yard as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers edged the Philadelphia Phantoms, 2-1.
Campoli's fifth goal from Jim Campbell and Blaine Down allowed Bridgeport to take a 3-2 lead in the eight-game season series. The Sound Tigers also won just their second game in their last 13 tries and captured a game in regulation for the first time since Dec. 15.
R.J. Umberger scored the lone goal and Antero Niittymaki stopped 18-of-20 shots for Philadelphia, which had a two-game win streak snapped. The Phantoms outshot the Sound Tigers, 32-20, but finished 0-for-7 on the power play.
Following a scoreless opening period, Philadelphia assumed a 1-0 lead just 53 seconds into the second stanza. Ryan Ready set up Umberger for the initial shot on the play and the rookie hacked away at his own rebound as the puck trickled over the goal line for his 12th goal of the year.
Bridgeport answered exactly eight minutes later to even the score at 1-1. Rob Collins took a feed from Bruno Gervais and darted down the right wing before finding a trailing Kevin Colley, who blasted in his ninth goal.
After Campoli's game-winner, Philadelphia had three power plays the rest of the way. The final man-advantage began with 2:30 remaining thanks to a Gervais holding minor, but Bridgeport goaltender Wade Dubielewicz turned aside several Philadelphia chances to preserve the win.
Dubielewicz finished with 31 saves.
The Phantoms are back in action on Wednesday at 7:30, when they travel to take on the Hershey Bears. Philadelphia's next home game is set for Friday at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Phantoms Notes: Joey Hope, Wade Skolney, Josh Gratton and Rosario Ruggeri were injured scratches ... Stephen Wood, Jeff Smith and Jon Sim were healthy scratches ... The Phantoms' penalty-killing unit is 28-for-30 over the last six games ... Bridgeport took a 10-9-2 lead in the all-time series ... Philadelphia has lost three in a row on the road.
