January 29, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins snapped a five-game losing skid on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, skating to a 7-5 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Providence power play unit went on a tear, going 4-6 on the night. The Bruins outshot Bridgeport, 47-27. The Bruins are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 21-17-2-6 record.
Bruin left wing Andy Hilbert notched his second hat trick of the season, the fourth of his career, pacing the win. Hilbert has a team season-high four-game goal streak, firing home six goals over that span. He also has points (6-1-7) in five straight games. Hilbert leads the team in scoring with 25-25-50 totals in 46 games. He scored two power play goals on Friday night, becoming the all-time franchise leader with 32. Hilbert ranks second in overall franchise career scoring, with 89-92-181 totals in 201 games, five points shy of tying the late Sergei Zholtok for the franchise career scoring mark.
Bruin winger David Gove netted the game-winning goal in the third period on his eighth goal of the season. Defensemen Kevin Dallman (5) and Milan Jurcina (5) added power play goals, while center Patrice Bergeron sealed the win with an empty net goal, his 14th goal of the season. Jurcina has points (1-3-4) in four straight games. Center Keith Aucoin had three assists, giving him 1-4-5 totals in his last two games, and 1-7-8 totals over his last five games.
Providence goaltender Cody Rudkowsky got the win in relief of Hannu Toivonen, stopping all 11 shots he faced in 25:29 of action. Rudkowsky is 3-3-2 on the season. Toivonen stopped 11 of the 16 shots he faced in 34:31.
The Bruins visit the Portland Pirates on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com. The Bruins return home to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday, January 30 at 4:05 p.m.
