Sloan Recalled to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (January 29, 2005) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have recalled defenseman Tyler Sloan from Dayton (ECHL) and have returned left wing Janne Jokila to Dayton.

Sloan, 23, appeared in 26 games with Dayton this season, recording 3 goals, 6 assists and 49 penalty minutes. In two games with Syracuse this season, Sloan has not recorded a point. In 112 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, Sloan has tallied 4 goals, 5 assists and 101 penalty minutes. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Sloan was originally signed as a free agent by Columbus on September 24, 2000.

Jokila, 22, appeared in two games with Syracuse this season, without recording a point. In 36 games with Dayton this season, Jokila has recorded 12 goals, 11 assists and 34 penalty minutes. Jokila has appeared in nine career AHL games with Syracuse, without recording a point. A native of Turku, Finland, Jokila was selected by Columbus in the seventh round, 200th overall, in the NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch returns home tonight to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
