
Grizzlies Hold Off RedHawks Rally

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies (21-24) built an early 6-1 lead and held off a late rally for a win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (19-25) in a 7-5 final before 4,638 Monday night at Chukchansi Park.
Grizzlies starter Andrew Kown (6-3) allowed one run and four hits in six innings for the winning decision. RedHawks starter Douglas Arguello (2-5) allowed a season-high six runs with four hits and four walks in six innings for the losing decision. Marc Kroon (10) saved the game with a perfect ninth inning.
Astros infielder Jeff Keppinger was 2-for-5 in his sixth game of a rehabilitation assignment with Oklahoma City, and tenth game overall. Combined with four games in Double-A Corpus Christi, Keppinger is 13x40 with one home run and three RBI.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the first inning. Anderson Hernandez singled, moved to second on a hit, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a bases loaded walk for a 1-0 lead.
Fresno took the lead back in the bottom of the first, scoring twice against Arguello. Tyler Graham led off with a walk and scored from first base on a double from Ryan Rohlinger for a 1-1 score. After moving to third on a wild pitch, Rohlinger scored on a Brett Pill sacrifice fly for a 2-1 Grizzlies lead.
Fresno built the lead larger with a four-run fourth inning. After a Conor Gillaspie leadoff walk, Pill belted a two-run home run for a 4-1 Fresno lead. Brandon Belt next reached on a hit-by-pitch and scored from first on an Edgar Gonzalez double for a 5-1 score. Gonzalez next stole third base and scored on another Arguello wild pitch for the 6-1 lead.
The RedHawks rallied to within one run with a four-run eighth inning against reliever Henry Sosa. With one out, Anderson Hernandez and Jeff Keppinger singled before a Max Ramirez hit scored Hernandez for a 6-2 score. Koby Clemens next doubled off the top of the left field wall, bringing in Keppinger for a 6-3 game. Tommy Manzella next grounded out to score Ramirez for the 6-4 score. Robinson Cancel later extended his hitting streak to 14 consecutive games with a pinch-hit single to left-centerfield to score Clemens for a 6-5 game. Cancel is now 21x41 during the longest hitting streak for the RedHawks in 2011.
The Grizzlies added an eighth inning insurance run, scoring Rohlinger on a two-out single by Belt for a 7-5 score.
