Wild Pitch Costs Padres

Former San Diego Padre Lance Zawadzki scored on a wild pitch by Evan Scribner in the bottom of the 11th inning Tuesday, giving Omaha a 6-5 victory at Werner Park. Scribner walked his first three batters of his Tucson Padres season in the bottom of the 11th, as Omaha scored without a hit in the extra inning. The Padres have now lost six of their last seven games, and five of six on the current Iowa-Omaha road trip.

The Padres scored four times in the top of the fourth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate, collecting two hits and four walks. Tucson led 5-2 at the seventh inning stretch before Omaha scored once in the seventh against Greg Burke and twice in the eighth against Luis Perdomo to tie the game. Will Inman had a strong start for Tucson, allowing just one earned run in five innings of work.

Jesus Guzman was 2-for-5 with a triple in the loss and Cedric Hunter was 2-for-4 with a walk. The Padres now have five wins in 19 one run games and just one extra inning win in eight tries.
