Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (20-25) scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 5-2 win over the Fresno Grizzlies (21-25) before 6,958 Tuesday afternoon at Chukchansi Park.
RedHawks starter Nelson Figueroa (2-0) allowed two runs and seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts over six and two-thirds innings in a winning decision. Fresno starter Josh Banks (3-3) allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings for a losing decision. David Carpenter (2) saved the game after allowing one hit over one and one-thirds innings.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring with a three run first inning. Anderson Hernandez and Jeff Keppinger singled and later scored on a Koby Clemens double for a 2-0 lead. Brian Dopirak next singled in Clemens for a 3-0 score.
In the third inning Fresno used a two-out rally to get on the board for the first time. Tyler Graham doubled with two out and scored on a Conor Gillaspie single for a 3-1 game.
The Grizzlies added a fifth inning run when Terry Evans belted a solo home run, cutting the RedHawks lead to 3-2.
In the sixth inning Robinson Cancel extended a hitting streak to 15 consecutive games with a single, continuing the longest streak for any RedHawks hitter in 2011.
Oklahoma City added insurance runs in the ninth inning. Cancel and Clemens led off with back-to-back singles and later scored on a Brandon Barnes single for a 5-2 lead.
