Scott Kazmir Begins Rehab Assignment with Bees Today

SALT LAKE CITY (May 24, 2011) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that pitcher Scott Kazmir will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake in today's game against the Memphis Redbirds at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Kazmir is today's scheduled starting pitcher for the Bees.

Kazmir, 27, was placed on the Disabled List on April 8 with lower back soreness. He has appeared in one game with the Angels this season on April 3. In 2010, Kazmir appeared in 28 games (all starts) with the Angels, finishing with a 9-15 record and a 5.94 ERA. The Houston native was originally selected by the New York Mets in the first round (15th overall) of the 2002 draft and joined the Angels via trade on August 29, 2009 from the Tampa Bay Rays.
