Grizzlies Fall 4-3 In Overtime

West Valley City, Utah - The Idaho Steelheads defeated the Utah Grizzlies 4-3 in overtime Sunday evening at the E-Center.

Utah took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from Tim Verbeek 10:20 into the first period before Idaho got a power-play goal of their own 8:38 into the second and the game was tied at one headed to the third period.

In the third, the two teams traded goals with Tim Verbeek giving Utah a 2-1 lead at 7:48 with another goal before Idaho answered back 3:28 later.

The Grizzlies took a 3-2 lead on a Rob Hennigar unassisted shorthanded goal as he followed his shot and tapped the puck into the net. Idaho answered 18 seconds later, still on the power-play, with Darrell Hay getting a goal that would tie the game and eventually force overtime.

In overtime, Tyler Shelast scored the game-winning goal 1:52 into the five-minute sudden-death period.

Mike Mole stopped 26 of 30 shots from Idaho.

The Grizzlies return to action Friday in Phoenix. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Utah returns home Wednesday, February 4; Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 hosting Phoenix with all three games starting at 7:05 p.m.
