Grizzlies Fall 2-1 In Shootout

Phoenix, Arizona - The Phoenix RoadRunners defeated the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in a shootout Friday night at U.S. Airways Center. The Grizzlies picked up a point in the game to improve their unbeaten streak to four.

The game remained scoreless until the 2:28 mark of the third when Rory Rawlyk buried a power-play goal to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead. Utah tied the game just 4:21 later with Evan Kotsopoulos knocking in a rebound for his fifth of the year. Tim Verbeek and James Sanford picked up assists.

Mike Mole stopped four of five Phoenix shots in the shootout as Ashton Rome scored in round one. However, Utah was unable to score on all five of their shootout opportunities.

Mole stopped 29 of 30 shots from Phoenix through the end of overtime while Craig Kowalski stopped 43 of 44 Utah shots through 65 minutes.

Utah continues their trip Saturday in Las Vegas. Face-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Saturday, December 27 to host Idaho at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
