
Grizzlies Drop Thursday Night Decision To Stockton

West Valley City, Utah - The Stockton Thunder defeated the Utah Grizzlies 6-3 Thursday night at the E-Center. With Utah's loss, they remain four points in back of Phoenix for a playoff spot in the ECHL's National Conference. The RoadRunners are off until Saturday.
Utah took a 1-0 first period lead with Joel Irving feeding Matt Craig for his 12th of the season and second in three games since returning from an injury. Stockton tied the game with just 16 seconds left to go in the first as a puck careened its way through traffic and in.
In the second, Liam Reddox gave Stockton a 2-1 lead at 3:13. Utah evened the game at two just ten seconds later with Matt Craig feeding Luciano Aquino for his seventh of the season.
Stockton however responded with three goals in less than six minutes around the midway point of the period to build a 5-2 lead. Joel Irving picked up a 4-on-3 power-play goal at 17:43 of the second to cut the lead to 5-3 entering the third. Andy Sertich and Luciano Aquino picked up assists on the play.
Stockton added the only tally in the third with an insurance goal at 5:35 from Colin Pepperall.
Utah outshot Stockton 40-39 in the game.
The Grizzlies and Thunder rematch both Friday and Saturday at the E-Center with face-offs scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
