Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones will host 'Education In Hockey Day' on Tuesday (March 27) at U.S. Bank Arena. The event will coincide with the Cyclones 10:30am game against the Johnstown Chiefs. It is the first time in the history of the Cincinnati Cyclones that this event has been executed.
The day begins for students arriving at the game around 10am. After being seated and watching the players warm up, the JumboTron video boards will be used to air various segments showing how U.S. Bank Arena and the Cincinnati Cyclones are able to teach a variety of subjects to students. The video presentation will last 30 minutes and will be shown during the breaks during the Cyclones-Chiefs game.
Among the topics covered will be the making of the ice at the arena, the operation of the Zamboni, mathematics in compiling statistical records, figuring goaltending statistics and winning percentages, physical education with regard to burning of calories, and geography with the travel the Cyclones will do in 2006-07 and with the hometowns of players.
More than 3,500 students from the region will be on hand. A total of 27 schools, ranging from elementary school to high schools will be present. Seventeen cities between Ohio and Kentucky will be represented.
Cincinnati currently leads the North Division with a 34-24-3-2 record, one point ahead of the Dayton Bombers. The Cyclones play a two game road swing this weekend before encountering the Chiefs. The club is at Trenton on Saturday (March 24-7pm) and Sunday (March 25-4pm).
