Storm's Koopmans Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Logan Koopmans of the Toledo Storm is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 12-18, 2007.

The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound, Koopmans was 2-0-0 with a shutout in two road games while helping the Storm improve to 33-26-2 and move into a tie for second place in the North Division with 68 points.

The 23-year-old posted a pair of wins at Wheeling, stopping 41 out of 42 shots in a 3-1 win on Mar. 14, then turned around on Mar. 16 and stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his second shutout of the season ranking him tied for 11th in the ECHL.

The Cranbrook, British Columbia native is on a three-game wining streak and is 13-5-0 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage in 18 games this season. Koopmans was placed on the 30-day injured reserve on Dec. 22.

Selected in the fifth round (166th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2002 National Hockey Entry Draft, Koopmans has played one game in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins. In his third professional season Koopmans is 32-17-3 with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in 55 games with the Storm.

Before turning professional Koopmans played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Lethbridge Hurricanes where he was 57-57-10 with a 3.20 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage in 138 games.

Runners Up: Devan Dubnyk, Stockton Thunder (2-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .942 save pct.) and Dave Caruso, Gwinnett Gladiators (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .953 save pct.).
