Checkers to support Charlotte's new Ronald McDonald House

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today they will hit the ice Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 4 p.m. at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena vs. Augusta for an afternoon that benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Ronald McDonald and skate with the Charlotte Checkers and get autographs and photos following the game.

North and South Carolina's Jazzercise groups are helping to raise funds for the Charlotte Ronald McDonald House and will be performing during an intermission. For more information about Jazzercise visit www.jazzercise.com.

The Charlotte community has received a charter to design, build and operate the new Ronald McDonald House. Current plans call for a roughly 30,000 square foot home featuring more than 20 suites, along with a family kitchen, great room, learning center, playground and sitting porch situated on a donated lot in the 1600 block of Morehead Street.

The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte will primarily serve children being treated at Carolinas Medical Center's new 12-story, 234-bed Levine Children's Hospital and the expanded pediatric practices at Presbyterian Healthcare's Hemby Children's Hospital which includes a new expanded Intensive Care Nursery.
