Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Ontario Reign defeated the Utah Grizzlies (11-6-3-1) 3-2 in overtime Saturday night at Maverik Center. Utah scored two goals in the third period to tie after being down 2-0 at the start of the third period.

Matt Clarke blasted a shot from the far point 10:15 into the third period as Tyler Ruegsegger, Chris Donovan and Tim Crowder battled along the boards to hold the puck in and they found Matt Clarke in some open ice. Utah tied the contest 3:13 later as Nick Tuzzolino knocked home a lose puck in the crease that seemed to roll around forever. Kevin Deeth and Michael Gergen picked up assists. Utah outshot Ontario 18-5 in the third period to mount the comeback.

"We took a lot of positives starting with the second period and the team toughness, then coming back in the third, but it should never come to that," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We need to play with that fire from the drop of the puck; not when we're down by two goals and the guys feel the heat."

Jeff Corey scored 1:34 into overtime to give the Reign the win after Ontario tallied a goal in each the first and second periods to go up 2-0.

The Grizzlies and Ontario meet Friday in California at 8 p.m. Utah returns to Maverik Center to open a five-game home stand Wednesday, December 15 with Las Vegas at 7:05 p.m.
