Steelheads Top Aces, 4-1

December 4, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID- Jase Weslosky earned the win in his first professional start for the Idaho Steelheads (11-5-5) as Idaho took a 4-1 victory against the Alaska Aces (11-8-1) before a crowd of 4,426 at Qwest Arena. With Utah's failure to pick up two points against Ontario, the Steelheads vaulted into first place in the Mountain Division.

John-Scott Dickson opened the scoring for the Steelheads when he received a pass at the back-door from Mark Derlago and fired the puck into a largely open net to beat Alaska goalie Gerald Coleman and give Idaho a 1-0 lead. Kael Mouillierat also assisted on Dickson's fourth goal of the season.

At 3:34 of the second period, Dickson scored his second of the game and fifth of the season when he fired home a rebound from the right circle with assists going to Derlago and Steve Oleksy.

With Idaho on a five-on-three power play, Steve Oleksy one-timed a shot from the center-point to beat Coleman for his first goal of the season; a tally that gave Idaho a 3-0 lead. Cody Lampl and Dickson assisted on the goal.

Mark Isherwood launched a shot from the right point that beat Weslosky- the only blemish against Weslosky on the evening- after which the Steelheads still held a 3-1 lead.

With 1:58 remaining, Mark Derlago dumped a puck from neutral ice into the empty net to give the Steelheads the 4-1 lead.

Weslosky stopped 31 of 32 shots to improve to 1-0-0. Coleman stopped 21 of 24 to fall to 7-7-1.
