
Aces Fall to Steelheads 4-1 to Close Road Swing

John-Scott Dickson scored two goals, and rookie goaltender Jase Weslosky made 31 saves in his pro debut as the Idaho Steelheads beat the Alaska Aces 4-1 on Saturday night at the Qwest Arena in Boise, ID. The Aces fell to 11-8-1 on the year, and finished their season-long, eight-game road trip an even 4-4. The Aces will now return home for the first time in nearly a month to host the Victoria Salmon Kings on Wednesday, December 8th and Thursday, December 9th. Dickson scored his first of the night from just outside the crease at 10:28 to open the scoring. The Aces outshot the Steelheads 10-9 in the opening period. Dickson notched his second of the night from the right circle early in the second period at 3:34 to make it 2-0. The Steelheads made it 3-0 later in the frame on a two-man advantage at 16:20 when Steve Oleksy blasted home a one-timer from the high slot. The Steelheads outshot the Aces 13-7 in the second period, and took a 3-0 lead into the third period.
The Aces outshot the Steelheads 15-2 in the third period, and pressed the Steelheads all frame long, but could not complete a comeback. Mark Isherwood got the Aces on the board at 1:53 with his second goal of the season. The Aces had quality chances the rest of the way, but Weslosky held his ground. Mark Derlago scored an empty net goal to make it 4-1 Steelheads at 18:02.
Gerald Coleman (7-7-1) made 21 saves on 24 shots in the loss. Jase Weslowsky (1-0) earned the win in his prop debut, with 31 saves on 32 shots. The Aces power play went 0-5, while the Steelheads went 1-4. The Aces outshot the Steelheads 32-25 in the game.
