Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals (11-5-5-0) were stunned in overtime by the Kalamazoo Wings (8-9-1-2) on Saturday night at First Arena, 6-5, in front of a sellout crowd of 3,933 fans.

Brad Miller's goal from the right circle at 5:17 of the first period gave Elmira a 1-0 lead. Justin Donati and Tyler Donati had assists on the goal, the first point for T. Donati since being reassigned to the Jackals earlier this week by the AHL's Connecticut Whale.

Patrick Asselin had the first of his three goals on the game on the power play with a backhand on the doorstep that beat Elmira goaltender Zane Kalemba stick side to tie the game at 14:03 of the first, 1-1.

R.J. Anderson's first goal of the season from the high slot put Elmira back on top 2-1 at 15:51 of the first, as Anderson took a feed from Patrick Coulombe and drove the puck past K-Wings goaltender Riley Gill for the Jackals' second goal of the game.

Asselin's second tally of the contest came on a rebound in the left circle, with the second-year pro sneaking his shot under the cross bar at 16:36 to even the score, 2-2.

Coulombe stickhandled in the slot late in the first period and wristed a puck low, glove side past Gill at 19:13 for the 3-2 Jackals lead.

In the second period, T. Donati's wrist shot found the net for the Jackals' lone power-play goal of the game at 3:59 to make it 4-2.

Andrew Fournier drove the puck from the right circle into the net at 9:21 of the second on a three-on-one short-handed goal to bring the K-Wings to within a goal, 4-3.

In the third period, Matt Duffy's left-circle shot beat Kalemba stick side to tie the game, 4-4, at 2:54.

Eric Lampe took a feed from Yannick Tifu in front of the net and poked the puck past Gill to put the Jackals in front once again, 5-4, at the 5:39 mark of the third.

With Gill pulled in the final moments of the game, Trent Daavettila knocked in a loose puck past the stick of Kalemba with 3.4 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

In the extra session, Asselin completed the hat trick with a snap shot from the left goal line at the 1:29 mark, giving Kalamazoo the 6-5 win.

Kalemba stopped 29 of 35 shots in the loss, dropping to 1-0-1-0 on the season, while Gill improved to 2-2-0-0 with the K-Wings and 5-2-0-0 overall this season with a 30-save effort.

The Jackals are in Trenton on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in an Atlantic Division meeting with the Devils.
