Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (7-3-1-0) scored two in the third to break a 2-2 tie and three-straight goals as they rallied back from a 2-1 deficit in the final minute of the second period to beat the Colorado Eagles 4-2 Wednesday night at Maverik Center.

The win was Utah's fourth-straight victory as they already lead the West Division by five points with a game in hand on second place Idaho. The Grizzlies are back home Friday and Saturday against Rapid City.

"We pulled it off," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "The guys were focused; they want to win every game. When you have the depth, blue line, and goalies that we do, we just need to work for it."

ECHL Goaltender of the Week Ryan Faragher improved to 7-0 on the season by stopping 27 of 29 shots in his first game at Maverik Center in 2015-2016.

"Ryan has really fine tuned his game," said Branham. "He worked very hard at the end of last year, in the offseason, and obviously now; he's tremendous and very focused. He gets better and better every day."

Utah took a 1-0 lead at 11:45 of the first period after a shorthanded goal by Ryan Misiak (2) as he blasted home a shot from the slot after Matt Berry forced the puck free behind the Colorado net.

"We try to stick to the game plan on the penalty kill; you want to keep it simple," said Misiak. "Matt [Berry] worked his butt off down there - he gave me the opportunity to put a puck on net and fortunately it went in."

The Grizzlies trailed 2-1 going down the stretch in the second period after Colorado tied the contest in the final minute of the first period and scored again 7:57 into the second.

Utah tied the game at 2 going to the second intermission as Charles Sarualt (4) knocked in a rebound on a Connor Hardowa shot. Ryan Walters picked up his first point of the game on an assist.

"Charlie's goal there at the end of the second was huge for us," said Branham. "Going into the third period tied versus down by a goal; he's a very opportunistic player - the puck is always on his stick."

The Grizzlies took a 3-2 lead 9:14 into the third period as Walters tipped in a Sarault blast with Shayne Taker also picking up an assist on the power-play.

"Another thing that was great was the power play goal," said Branham. "In Alaska, it was the other power-play unit that got us going with the tying goal. Tonight it was Charlie's unit so it was good to see."

1:13 later, Utah made it 4-2 as Erik Higby tipped in an Alex Gallant shot as Eric Knodel and Corey Fienhage held the puck in on the second chance.

Utah held on as Colorado pulled the goalie and brought out an extra-attacker with just under three minutes left.

"The guys want it bad and it's fun to be around," said Branham. "With Faragher backstopping us, he made some big saves tonight. I thought top to bottom, overall it was a great effort."
