Swamp Rabbits Strengthen Attack with Dziurzynski

Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the team has acquired forward Darian Dziurzynski from the Tulsa Oilers in exchange for forward Emerson Clark. In a separate transaction, goaltender Adam Morrison has been released.

"Darian is a hard-nosed winger who brings a lot of talent and a tremendous work ethic to our team," head coach Brian Gratz said. "He has a big shot, skates well and is very effective in the corners and getting to the net front. I'm confident his skill, experience and team-focused approach will strengthen our team on the ice and in the dressing room."

Dziurzynski (pronounced: z'yuhr-ZIHN-skee) was initially signed to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Arizona Coyotes on March 8, 2013, and spent each of the last three seasons with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 181 career games with the Pirates, he displayed skill (26g, 17a, 43 pts) and toughness (321 penalty minutes), and led the club with 183 penalty minutes during the 2013-14 campaign.

A native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Dziurzynski began this season, his first in the ECHL, by collecting four points (2g, 2a) and 16 penalty minutes in eight games with Tulsa.

Prior to turning pro, the 6'1 204-pound forward played five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Saskatoon Blades and Brandon Wheat Kings from 2007-12. He amassed 161 points (92g, 69a) and 505 penalty minutes in 304 major-junior contests. In addition, the 24-year-old played alongside current Swamp Rabbits' forward Josh Nicholls for three seasons with Saskatoon.

Dziurzynski was originally selected by Arizona in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Clark, 22, registered five points (3g, 2a), 25 penalty minutes and a -1 rating in nine games this season.

Morrison, 24, went 2-1-0 with a 2.80 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in four appearances with Greenville.
