November 12, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (November 12, 2015)-The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Kevin Henderson and have released forward Cole Wilson and forward/defenseman Nick Grasso, the Mallards announced today.
Henderson, 28, has played 355 career American Hockey League games and played four times for the National Hockey League's Nashville Predators in 2012-13.
Henderson scored seven goals and added five assists for 12 points in 56 games with the AHL's Texas Stars last season. The 6' 3", 209-pound Toronto native won the 2014 AHL Calder Cup title with the Stars.
In total, Henderson has recorded 50 goals, 61 assists and 111 points over six AHL seasons with the Stars, Milwaukee Admirals and Worcester Sharks.
Henderson joins the Mallards for his second ECHL stint. He played two games for the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2011-12.
Before turning professional with Worcester in 2009, Henderson spent three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Kitchener Rangers and then skated for the University of New Brunswick for two years. He was named to the 2008-09 Atlantic University Sport First All-Star Team after he piled up 19 goals AND 31 assists in 28 games to finish third in the conference with 50 points.
Grasso played three games for the Mallards this season and picked up two assists while Wilson skated in five games without recording a point.
The Mallards return to action on the road against the Cincinnati Cyclones tomorrow night. The Mallards next play at home Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets. Just in time for the holidays, the Mallards will team with R.I.A. Federal Credit Union for a teddy bear toss Sunday. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped stuffed animal to the game and throw it on to the ice after the Mallards' first goal. Teddy bears will be donated to area children in need. Courtesy of B100, fans can join the Mallards on the ice and skate with the team after each Sunday home game this season.
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home games- including Sunday's contest- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.
