Colorado Eagles News Release

The Utah Grizzlies scored a power-play goal and an even-strength marker in the third period to defeat the Colorado Eagles 4-2 at the Maverik Center on Wednesday. Jesse Mychan added two goals on the night for the Eagles, but it wasn't enough to overcome Utah's four goals and 40 shots in the contest.

Utah got on the board first, scoring at the 11:45 mark of the first period as Grizzlies Defenseman Ryan Misiak fired a rebound past Colorado Goaltender Kris Lazaruk to give Utah the early 1-0 lead.

The Eagles tied up the score in the final minute of the frame when Mychan scored from the circle with 52 seconds to play in the first, with the assists going to Collin Bowman and Ludwig Karlsson. The 1-1 tie would hold heading into the first intermission.

Mychan scored his second goal of the night with a wraparound from behind the net at the 7:57 mark of the second period, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Karlsson would register his second assist of the night, as Trent Daavettila also picked up an assist on the goal.

The Grizzlies tied it up at 2-2 when Charles Sarault scored on a loose rebound in front of the net with 50 seconds to play in the second.

The Grizzlies took the lead and added some padding with back-to-back goals in the third period. Forward Ryan Walters scored on the power play with a deflection from the slot, giving Utah a 3-2 lead. Just 1:13 later, fellow forward Erik Higby added another with a deflection off the stick in front of the net. Utah would hold on to win it 4-2, as they outshot the Eagles 40-29 on the night.

The Eagles continue their three-game roadtrip with back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday against the Americans in Allen, Texas.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more start at just $14 per seat and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
