
Agosta & Cornell Head to AHL Charlotte; 'Blades Add Matt Corrente

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades announced Thursday that defenseman Justin Agosta was recalled by the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, while defenseman Mike Cornell was loaned to Charlotte as well. In addition, the Everblades have agreed to terms with defneseman Matt Corrente.
Corrente, 27, joins the Everblades after totaling 13 points (3g, 10a) in 58 games split last season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch (48 games) and San Antonio Rampage (10 games). The 6-0, 205-pound veteran blueliner has totaled 73 points (18g, 55a) in 293 career AHL appearances. The Mississauga, Ontario native also logged six assists in 34 NHL games played with the New Jersey Devils from 2009-2011. Corrente was selected by the New Jersey in the first round (30th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Agosta, 25, returns to Charlotte where he was held scoreless in his AHL debut this past Sunday. The 6-3, 205-pound rookie defender has recorded nine points (5g, 4a) in 11 games played with the Everblades this season. Last season, the East Meadows, New York native posted 22 points (3g, 19a) in 39 games played during his senior season at Quinnipiac University (ECAC).
Cornell, 27, heads to Charlotte having registered four points (1g, 3a) with a +6 rating and 49 penalty minutes this season with the Everblades. Last season, Cornell posted six points (2g, 4a) in 17 games played with Florida. In addition, the 5-11, 190-pound defenseman added 11 points (3g, 8a) and 141 penalty minutes in 44 AHL appearances split between the Springfield Falcons, St. John's IceCaps, and Charlotte Checkers.
