The Situation
Utah at 11-6, took two of three games from the two Western Conference division leaders this past week. They beat Las Vegas 4-0 Monday, Alaska 3-2 in a shootout Saturday. Alaska broke a 2-2 third period tie Friday with 1:10 left in regulation and won 4-2.
Entering December
The Grizzlies are off to their usual solid start to open the year. They are 11-6 entering December this season after they were 11-4-2-1 last year and 12-6 entering December of 2009.
Versus Colorado/Streaky Scheduling
Utah took two of three games from the Eagles November 9, 11 and 12. The two teams will meet eight times between now and January 11. Eight of Utah's next 18 games will be against the Eagles. Utah is in a stretch of eleven-straight games against Alaska or Colorado and 16 of 20 games against the Eagles or Aces.
Mitch Fadden Leading Scorer
Mitch Fadden continues to lead Utah in scoring after his two goal and three assist output last week in three games. He currently has six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 15 games and also has multiple-points in 15 of 18 games.
Heating Up
Matt Reber has two goals and five assists in his last four games and Paul McIlveen has three goals and three assists in his last four games.
Penalty-Kill
The Grizzlies penalty-kill continues to lead the league at an 88.6-percent clip. Not including four games against Alaska, Utah is 63 for their last 67 on the penalty-kill over the last 16 games for a 94-percent clip.
Scoring Early
Utah has scored in the first four minutes of a game in three of their last four contests. They have had 2-0 leads in the first nine minutes of a contest in two of their last four games.
Shootouts
Utah is 3-0 in shootouts this year. They lead the league with seven goals on 12 shootout shots and Andrew Engelage leads goaltenders by stopping 11 of 12 shootout shots from the opposition.
Close Ones
Utah is now 9-1 overall and 6-0 at home in one-goal games.
At The Arena
Friday, is the team's first Maverik Night of the year. All tickets for the game will be $6 when fans present a receipt from Maverik at the arena box office.
