Express Weekly: Three Win Week for the Express

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, earned seven of eight possible points during a four game trip to Reading and Trenton last week. The Express went 3-0-1-0 to improve their overall record to 11-5-1-1 and their 24 points puts them in first place in the North Division.

Express 3, READING 2

Chicago scored first when RW Chaz Johnson tallied shorthanded 10:02 into the first period. The Express held the 1-0 lead until the Royals scored twice in 2:02 to go up 2-1 heading into the third period. LW Blair Riley tied the game halfway through the third, and F Bobby Robins notched the game-winner with 2:21 left to boost the Express to a 3-2 win. Chicago posted its highest shot total of the season, firing 47 shots on goal.

Friday, November 25

Express 4, READING 2

Chicago and Reading traded goals 58 seconds apart early in the first period, and RW Chaz Johnson scored his second goal in as many nights with 3:46 remaining in the opening stanza to give the Express a 2-1 lead at the first intermission. Chicago scored two more in the second to stretch their lead to 4-1 before the Royals added a final goal with 1:30 left in the game for the final 4-2 score. Chaz Johnson scored three points in the win.

Saturday, November 26

TRENTON 3, Express 2, OT

The Titans scored one goal in the first period and one goal in the second period to take a 2-0 lead into the third period. The Express found their offense late in the third period, scoring twice in 2:22 to force the game into overtime. Trenton was too much to handle in the extra frame, as F Rob Bordson ended the game with 2:20 left in OT.

Sunday, November 27

Express 4, TRENTON 3

Chicago never trailed in the game, as F Pierre-Luc Faubert scored shorthanded and F Bobby Robins deflected in a puck on the power play to give Chicago a 2-0 lead at the end of the first intermission. Trenton scored 3:11 into the second stanza, which was followed up by D Scott Wietecha's first professional goal. LW Andy Bohmbach scored his third goal in two games halfway through the period, but F Bobby Robins tallied 59 seconds into the third period to collect the game-winning goal.

The Express have lost just two games on the road this season, both to Kalamazoo.D Scott Wietecha scored his first professional goal on Sunday.LW Chaz Johnson had a three game goal streak last week, picking up six points (3g,3a) from November 23 through November 26.Saturday's overtime loss marked the first time the Express played a post-regulation game that did not advance to a shootout.The Express came back in the third period twice last week, earning a 3-2 win in Reading on Wednesday and picking up a point in 3-2 overtime loss to Trenton on Saturday.G Rob Nolan earned his 50th professional win in Chicago's win at Reading on Wednesday.
