Express Acquire Chad Painchaud from Reading

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets,announced today that RW Chad Painchaud has been acquired from the Reading Royals in exchange for C Yannick Tifu.

Painchaud, 25, has 15 points on two goals and 13 assists so far this season in 17 games for the Reading Royals. The Mississauga, Ontario, native spent last season with the Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL), where he finished the season with 49 points (27g,22a) in 56 games. Painchaud scored the game winning goal in overtime during the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs last year to give Victoria a three-games-to-one series victory over the Bakersfield Condors.

The 6-1, 185 pound forward's most productive ECHL season came in 2009-10, when he finished the season with 30 goals and 38 assists for 68 points with the Victoria Salmon Kings. His 30 goals and 68 points both led the team. Painchaud has played 317 professional games in the ECHL and AHL, scoring 113 goals and 159 assists for 272 points.

Painchaud spent three seasons in the OHL before turning pro with the Mississauga IceDogs and Sarnia Sting. He picked up 148 points on 69 goals and 79 assists in 174 games.

Tifu played in 17 of the 18 Express games this season, scoring three goals and eight assists for 11 points.

"This should be the type of trade that everyone benefits from," said Head Coach Steve Martinson. "When you swap star players, it states how serious you are about winning."

The Express play two more games on the road before returning home on Wednesday, December 7 and Friday, December 9. December 9 is a Dollar Beers and Dollar Dogs night!
