Goldeyes and RedHawks Split Double Dip

Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney summed up his team's 9-4 loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks late Tuesday night in the simplest terms possible.
"We didn't pitch good," Forney said bluntly.
Yep, that summed it up.
The RedHawks pounded out nine runs on 12 hits in just seven innings in Game 2 of last night's twin bill at Shaw Park to earn a split in front of 6,483 cold, damp spectators at Shaw Park.
It was a horrible night weather wise at the downtown ballpark last night as temperatures dropped to as low as six degrees Celsius on a wet, misty night on the bank of the Red River.
"The big thing for us is that nobody got hurt," Forney said. "It was a miserable night to play baseball. It's bad out there. Your feet are wet and cold and then the rest of your body gets cold and wet and it's hard to do the things you need to do to play this game well."
The RedHawks picked up three runs in the second and three more runs in the third and even though the Goldeyes put four across in the bottom of the third, reliever Zach Baldwin gave up a two-run homer to Carlo Cota in the fourth and that put it away.
Starter Barry Fowler gave up six runs on seven hits in just three innings while Baldwin allowed three runs on five hits as the Goldeyes got hammered by that dangerous Fargo lineup.
With the win, Fargo improved to 10-9 while the Goldeyes fell to 11-8.
"Barry (Fowler) didn't have his command tonight and then Zach pitched way up in the zone. When you don't have your command, it will cost you."
Fowler (0-1, 6.23 ERA) took the loss while Fargo Zach Ward (2-2, 4.81) got the win. Jesse Hoorelbeke came in and threw two scoreless innings to put the game away.
For Fargo, Cota had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two while Justin James had three hits, scored one and drove in three. Brian Ruggiano had two hits, allowed one run and drove in a pair.
Kody Kaiser had another good game for the Fish, going two-for-four with a run scored and an RBI, after driving in all five runs in Winnipeg's 5-1 win in Game 1.
"Kody is getting used to the pitching in this league," Forney said. "He had a real good night tonight."
The Goldeyes and RedHawks will wrap up this three-game series at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Adam Tollefson (0-0-, 13.53) will get the start for Fargo while Forney will make a decision on his starter in the morning.
The game can heard live with Paul Edmonds on Sports Radio 1290, starting at 10:30 a.m. and it can be seen live on Shaw TV beginning at 11 a.m. and replayed at 7 p.m.
