SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Lincoln Saltdogs matched team records in runs scored and home runs as they belted six long balls in a 20-5 rout over the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants at The Birdcage Tuesday night.

Trailing 4-1 through three innings, the 'Dogs exploded for five runs in the fourth - highlighted by a Joe Ramos grand slam.

Lincoln then tacked on six more runs in the fifth inning, thanks in large part to a Robby Alcombrack three-run home run and a Blake Gailen two-run double.

The Saltdogs struck for six more runs in the top of the ninth inning on three doubles and two home runs - a solo shot by Alcombrack to lead off the frame and a three-run blast by Phil Hawke.

Vance Albitz smashed his first career home run, a solo blast to left field, in the seventh inning. Gailen led off the game with his second home run in as many starts.

The 20 runs scored tied a team record which was set in a game also played at Sioux Falls Stadium, back on July 31, 2006.

The Saltdogs had hit six home runs in a game on two different occasions prior to tonight: August 27 of last year at home against Sioux City and August 20, 2008 in St. Paul.

John James (3-1) pitched eight inning, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits while striking out three and walking zero to earn the win. Brad Stone (1-3) lasted 4 2/3 inning, giving up 11 runs on 10 hits to suffer the loss.

Four different players - Gailen, Maikel Jova, Ramos and Albitz - registered three-hit nights for the Saltdogs. Hawke, Jon Nelson and Alcombrack each collected two hits. Lincoln had a season-high 20 hits, five shy of the club record.

The teams meet again Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. for game three of the four-game series. Tommy Palica is set to pitch for the Saltdogs against Adam Cowart for the Pheasants.
